OK! Let's get on with Step 3:
The focus of this posting is actually about a simple, undeniable and inescapable truth...that is at the heart of our therapy approach in 7 Simple Steps to Stop Emotional Eating.
The only blocks to your successful, healthy weight loss are in your head. And 90% of those blocks are locked into your BELIEFS.
Beliefs about weight loss.
Beliefs about yourself.
Beliefs about what you deserve.
It all comes down to your MENTAL PROGRAMMING.
And you know what? The mental blocks that hold you back... are not your fault.
Let us remind you of a revealing story that paints the picture:
Remember Gillian’s story from our previous email (Step 2). She was successfully losing weight, and getting closer, and closer to her goal weight. In her mind she was saying to herself, “This is working... I can lose the weight I want. I can achieve my goal weight”. In her mind she realised "I’m doing great, I can finally achieve my weight loss desire!”
Oh, but hold on even though everything was progressing well for a long time it all came to a halt as a barrier blocking her weight loss success kept her weight stuck on a plateau for months on end.
She wasn’t losing weight, or getting slimmer any more. She was blocking her own weight loss.
Remember no one was more bemused than she was. She had no conscious idea why her weight had hit a barrier. She came back into Sally’s clinic where they explored Gillian’s own particular blocks using the Time Line Protocol featured in Step 1 of 7 Simple Steps to Stop Emotional Eating, and regression hypnosis to reveal what was keeping Gillian from achieving her goal.
You should do the same... think about what blocks might be holding you back from achieving your weight loss goal.
As therapists we don't believe people stay stuck just to make life easier for themselves because it doesn’t. Nor do we believe people’s weight loss plateaus because their blocks to successful weight loss are real.
Unless of course a person has a medical condition that means they cannot achieve a healthy weight for themselves then almost anyone can achieve the healthy weight they desire. Now, if you wanted to be a foot (30cm) taller then that might be a challenge too far but a healthy, or at least a healthier weight is pretty much in the grasp of everyone.
So when a client reaches a block it’s vital to find out the often deep-seated emotional reasons that are getting in their way.
One way to do this is to make sure you complete the self-help discovery steps in 7 Simple Steps to Stop Emotional Eating.
In particular, in Step One focus on exploring your own weight history in the Time Line Protocol. Also ensure you have worked thoroughly to heal the source of your self-hatred in Step Three of the book.
Hopefully by now you are well practiced with EFT, and have used it to reveal many of the emotional reasons that exist below your level of conscious awareness. Ask yourself this, "OK, it's true. It's a belief in me that I can’t lose weight, and be slimmer, and healthier. Other people might be able to lose weight but not me."
Really look at it, and realise "It’s not true!"
I deserve to be happy.
I deserve to be slim.
I deserve to be healthy.
I can have all that is positive, and I can welcome it all into my life.
The only person that was blocking it is you. Your blocks? They are your self-limiting beliefs, and negative thinking.
There isn't anybody out there stopping you from achieving what you want. It's you.
Don’t feel disheartened. We don't mean that in any negative way.
This is all about waking up. This is all about self awareness. This is all about the "a ha!" moment of realisation.
This is all about saying, “Oh I didn't realise I had that belief about myself. I would like to change that belief. I am ready to allow myself to achieve my goals."

"What's holding me back? What blocks... what mental programming... is keeping me stuck?"
